Charles Cobb is Sanctioned After Selling Away Investigation

Charles CobbPublicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on May 24, 2016 indicate that Virginia-based Financial West Group broker Charles Cobb has been suspended by FINRA. The securities and investment fraud law firm Fitapelli Kurta is interested in hearing from investors who have complaints regarding Mr. Cobb (CRD# 1505020).

Charles Cobb has spent 29 years in the securities industry and has been registered with Financial West Group in Lynchburg, Virginia since 2013. Previous registrations include Allied Beacon Partners, which has since been expelled by FINRA, in Lynchburg, Virginia; Madison Avenue Securities in Lynchburg, Virginia; LM Kohn & Company in Cincinnati, Ohio; Park Avenue Securities in New York, New York; Guardian Investors Securities in New York, New York; and New England Securities in New York, New York. He is a registered broker with six US states: Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Charles Cobb has received one customer complaint.

In September 2015, FINRA sanctioned Charles Cobb following allegations he engaged in private securities transactions totaling $486,168 in sales, for which he received $20,736 in selling compensation, without notifying his member firm, Madison Avenue Securities. According to FINRA’s findings, “the private securities were not approved for sale by Cobb’s firm and were not available for sale through the firm.” Mr. Cobb additionally allegedly “falsely stated that he had not engaged in any private securities transactions” on annual compliance acknowledgments. He was issued a three-month suspension from the securities industry and a fine of $5,000, as well as disgorgement totaling $12,621 plus interest.
